Highly Strung Players

The Innominable | Georgina Banks and Ellie Nielsen
The Innominable, which is having its première in Woodend, introduces us to twin sisters in their fifties. The sisters are waiting to collect their mother’s ashes. One of them (Glen-Rae) was named at birth, the other – for some reason – not. She is the Innominable.
The One Who Rang | Ellie Nielsen and Peter Rose
The One Who Rang is one of five short works in the series called The Ones. The two characters (unnamed) are married publishers who work for different companies. After a mysterious telephone call, we learn about the Man’s unhappy childhood and about the origins of their own relationship.
Award-winning author and publisher Peter Rose formed The Highly Strung Players in 1989 to perform works by himself and other absurdist playwrights. These are rehearsed readings, with a changing ensemble. The Highly Strung Players have performed on several occasions at fortyfivedownstairs in Melbourne.
