Accademia Arcadia
led by Davide Monti, with soloists Maria Christina Cleary (harp) and John O’Donnell (organ)

This program opens with the Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, in essence a one-movement concerto for two oboes, and includes a concerto for harp, another for organ, and two of the great Concerti Grossi, Opus 6. All of these works achieved immediate popularity in their time and have continued to hold their place in the repertoire.
Aria finalist Accademia Arcadia, formed by Jacqueline Ogeil in 2001 has won international critical acclaim for its recordings and performances. Premier performances include Victorian Opera’s production of Handel’s Xerxes in the new Murdoch Recital Hall, Ogeil’s performance of Scarlatti’s complete Essercizi on the Cristofori piano, and international premières of new editions of the very earliest operas: Gagliano’s Dafne in 2008 and Peri’s Euridice in 2014.
