2023 Marathon Choirs

3:30pm: Gisborne Singers

The Gisborne Singers is a choral ensemble in Gisborne, Victoria, Australia. Formed in 1980, it has evolved in many directions, currently mainly performing large-scale classical works. Luke Severn has held the position of Musical Director since 2021.

We aspire as a choir to perform concerts with high quality choral art for our enjoyment and that of the community of the Macedon Ranges and its neighbours, and in so doing to provide opportunities for the development of the choral singing skill of our members.

4.10pm Casey Choir

Casey Choir came into being in April 1998 with the intention of performing a varied and exciting program of music from many different genres. The choir has a high profile in the City of Casey, performing frequently for the local community at a range of civic events, as well as their two annual concerts in the area. They have participated in the Hobart Festival of Voices three times, and frequently perform in Melbourne-based festivals such as Choral@Montsalvat and Voices Of Women. They have recorded one CD, “Birds of a Feather”.

The choir is accompanied by Adrian Allen and conducted by Simon Loveless.

4.50pm: Victoria Welsh Choir

At the heart of Victoria Welsh Male Choir‘s repertoire – a quarter of it or so – is of course the music which has earned Wales the title “Land of Song”, such as:

  • Stirring hymns that raise the roof in chapels from Caerdydd to Caergybi
  • Poignant ballads of young (and not-so-young) love – almost always unrequited!
  • Age-old folk songs

Most of these we sing in the language of heaven – Cymraeg.

5:35pm: Tunggare

Tunggare is an SATB choir that started out as a group of friends getting together in a lounge room to sing for pleasure. Now we rehearse each Wednesday at the Trentwood Hub and love to explore the choral repertoire by singing lots of different genres from Medieval songs to contemporary and Classical anthems.

6:15pm: Chime Choir

Chime Choir is an SATB, all age choir. We sing a wide variety of musical styles, including contemporary classical, popular, folk, sacred, and songs from musicals. We have performed the Australian premiere of Ola Gjeilo’s Dreamweaver and Song of the Universal. You’ll find us presenting concerts at The Edge, in churches, at the Knox Carols by Candlelight, at wineries, in regional Victoria, interstate, and overseas.

Our choristers love our varied repertoire, enjoy musical challenges, and are not afraid to sing from memory. Our Artistic Director is the wonderful Jenny Mathers, and her loyal offsider, Coral Rafferty, our equally talented accompanist.

7:00pm: Southern Voices

Southern Voices is a mixed voice choir of talented, dedicated young musicians, whose aim is to provide beautiful music for all occasions. Southern Voices performs a wide range of music from opera to alternative, music theatre to contemporary, and major works to choral classics. A passion for choral music and storytelling through song is what inspires Southern Voices to share our musical journey with audiences wherever we perform.

7:45pm: Glee Plus

Glee Plus love to sing crowd-pleasing pop and contemporary repertoire. They have performed at such iconic venues as MONA, Fed Square, The State Library and the Brunswick Ballroom. Glee Plus are led by well-known conductor, composer, arranger and lover-of-singing, Vicky Jacobs.
