Berta Brozgul, solo piano

A spectacular program of the finest works for solo piano by Mozart, Chopin, Scriabin, and Brahms.
The moody chromaticism of Mozart’s A-minor Rondo provides a perfect segue into Chopin’s Ballade no. 4, “the most exalted, intense and sublimely powerful of all Chopin’s compositions” (John Ogden).
Scriabin’s post-romantic Sonata no. 4 is followed by the dazzling Variations and Fugue on a theme of Handel by Brahms, based on Handel’s Harpsichord Suite in B-flat major.
Born in Cape Town, Berta migrated to Australia at the age of 12. She has received many prizes in Australia as well as overseas.
She has performed across Australia as a soloist and collaborative artist, and has performed with several of Australia’s major orchestras including the Tasmanian and Queensland symphony orchestras.
In 2023, she made her debut with the Melbourne Symphony orchestra, performing Bartok’s third piano concerto conducted by Benjamin Northey. She currently holds a position as Associate Faculty at the Australian National Academy of Music.
