Dear Festival supporter,

It was with a heavy heart that we had to cancel our final installation of our reimagined, more spaced out Festival this year – but we write with some good news – so please read on!

Safety was, of course, top of mind. When we made the decision, we did so in consultation with our artists. Apart from the real risk that restrictions would mean we could not gather for performances (or indeed travel to Woodend – as most performers were from outside the Macedon Ranges), we also faced the diminishing possibility that we could rehearse together. Being able to rehearse in the same space together is a critical part of preparation, and that too was out of the question as the weekend approached. All this on top of the uncertainty of a number of postponements.

We were – and remain – disappointed that we couldn’t go ahead.

However, we do have some good news. The streamed performance created by Festival favourite Davide Monti, and Maria Cleary for this year’s program is being showcased by the new Melbourne Digital Concert Hall this week.

I do hope you can join us to support this fantastic new initiative – and the Festival – from the comfort of your own home – perhaps with a lovely glass of Italian wine and food to match. I know I will be.

Thank you for your support.
