Once Were Leaders
Max Gillies at St Ambrose Hall
Saturday 9th June, 11:30 am to 12:30 pm
In a one-man show, Max Gillies muses over the times when political leadership was in plentiful supply. In the early 1980s, Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan and Bob Hawke chartered a brave new economic course for us all. Some leaders burn bright only to fade quickly, like Paul Keating. Others, like John Howard, attach themselves like limpets.
Max Gillies has opened his archives to retrieve his favourite scripts by Don Watson, Patrick Cook and Guy Rundle. He wishes to share these bracing memories of an era when leaders led.
