‘Sweet’ music for Mother’s Day
As part of the Woodend Winter Arts Festival’s reimagined program this year, the first concert in a series of events will be Bach’s Cello Suites performed on period instruments on Mother’s Day.
Easily some of the most recognised works for cello, Bach’s Cello Suites continue to delight audiences and cellists alike. These iconic works of classical music have inspired many other musicians and artists across the centuries. Many of us are familiar with them through movies, ballet and theatre.
Composed nearly three centuries ago, the Solo Cello Suites of JS Bach are cherished by cellists the world over and contain untold delights for the listener.
Join three Australian cellists, Edwina Cordingley, Rosanne Hunt and Josephine Vains, as they explore the exquisite French Dance forms of Suites 1, 2 and 3 on period instruments in the perfect acoustic of St. Ambrose Church, Woodend.
